Nestled in Seattle’s Central District neighborhood, Oak & Alder celebrates the city’s past while setting the tone for its future. Complete with a rusted corten steel exterior, massive windows, and a pitched roofline, the townhome is intentionally designed to not look like other multi-family structures around town. Inspired by a nearby red brick high school and neighboring craftsman homes, Oak & Alder reinterprets the Central District’s recognizable features into a stylish high-density housing solution. In splitting a large single-family lot The Oak and Alder created two townhomes with three parking spots to support each homeowner without displacing any residents. The first unit is a three-bed / two-bath while the corner unit is a two-bed / two-bath. The project creates community-focused development increasing density in the city without sacrificing quality.
