A 15 unit apartment building in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood. Walking distance to the Beacon Hill light rail station the apartment features a mix of studios, 1 bedrooms, and two bedroom units. The walk-up design celebrates the entry experience as residence proceed through a covered white entryway and are led to a set of open wood framed stairs that separate the upper and lower buildings. Split in two, the project steps down the hill, taking advantage of the topography and offering bonus FAR exempt basement space that still provides able daylight access. The contrasting back and white siding extenuates the simple elevated box form and the massing responds to the neighboring buildings in height.
